The 209 House - Women’s Transitional Living Program Guidelines
A home of healing, SISTERHOOD, & love encouraging & supporting women to rebuild their lives, regain independence, & continue to heal in their recovery journey through providing a family based, furnished, safe, drug free place to stay, support, resources, accountability, life skills, and so on.
There are many rules, but this is to encourage safe, drug-free, clean, positive home for all women who enter our doors to continue to heal and get their lives back on track. We truly care about ever lady who is welcomed into our home. The house is heavily relies on the women of the house to know/enforce rules, along with management. Everyone helps and looks out for one another.
Communication is HUGE in the house. If you need help/support, you will never get it if you speak it!
We're happy to help, IF you're willing to put in the work.
You are a guest in The 209 House, not a tenant.
The house manager/owner of the property is able to discharge you of the program at ANY time for ANY reason. If escalated to that point where a guest would refuse to leave the house, law enforcement would be called & legal action would be taken.
-Honesty, communication, respect & the safety of everyone is priority. If those things are not received, then the house is simply not the place for you & will be asked to leave.
If you are mandated by parole, probation or court and you are discharged for any reason that the incident will be reported immediately to the supervising officer.
-No refunds are given under any circumstances!
1. NO use of alcohol or any mind-altering and/or mood-changing drugs.
-Anyone entering the home under the influence of drugs/alchohol will IMMEDIATELY BE ASKED TO LEAVE as well as, POLICE CALLED IF NECESSARY.
-This included marijuana, even if you hold a medical marijuana card.
-ANY contraband which includes, paraphernalia, substances, weapons, etc is subject to an IMMEDIATE DISCHARGE.
-Refusal to submit to a drug screen and/or breath test will be considered and admission of using–this includes any altered urine.
-Anyone on a MAT (Medical Assist Treatment) Program–must be approved by staff before entering the house.
-If you assist or allow another individual to use (this includes not informing the house manager if you are aware of another individual in violation) you will be immediately discharged.
2. All doctor prescribed medication and all over-the-counter drugs MUST be approved BEFORE entering the house.
-The 209 House reserves the right to request any documentation from any Doctor for prescribed medications.
-All medications should be locked in a lockbox and stored in your room out-of-sight at all times.
-The 209 House has the permission to count medications anytime to help ensure they’re not being abused.
-The 209 House does not hold any individual’s medication. Everyone is responsible for their own medications at all times.
-All individuals must check with the house manager before taking any medication including over the counter and supplements.
-Residents may not use mouthwash, or any other product, unless it is alcohol-free.
3. Individuals are not allowed to work, or go into, any establishment where alcohol is the main focus of the establishment.
-Including, but not limited to– bars, night clubs or casinos.
-Any questionable establishment should be cleared with the house manager.
-No gambling of any sort.
4. In the case of individual relapsing, management will carefully consider the next steps on a case by case basis. Open/honest communication is KEY.
-DO NOT return to the house under the influence under any circumstances. You may call staff, but don’t come onto property.
-You have 24 hours to disclose to staff & will determine next steps.
-Remember, relapsing can be a part of recovery, but it doesn’t have to be!
5. Security
-Individuals locations are monitored via Life360 for the first minimum 14 days while on the Move-In Phase to build trust & to hold accountability.
-Multiple security cameras are in use 24/7 on the exterior of the property.
-No interior cameras at this time to provide privacy, this may change if needed.
-Exterior doors have a fingerprint lock system, so nobody is able to give a code to others.
-DO NOT open the doors for anyone unless management tells you--this includes friends/family/utility services/contractors/etc.
-NO VISITORS ALLOWED EVER.
6. Individuals will attend a minimum of 3 AA and/or NA (or similar approved step work meetings) meetings a week.
-Number of meetings is not negotiable. Church, sponsor meetings, counseling, etc., do not count as meetings.
-Outpatient may be considered as AA/NA upon -staff’s discretion.
-Individuals must actively participate in some program for substance abuse such as AA/NA.
-Individuals must have meeting cards signed by the chairperson running the meeting immediately after the meeting has ended, & hand in to staff at Sunday’s weekly meeting. If you are late of leave meeting early, it will not be counted.
7. Each individual is expected to be self-supporting for The 209 House monthly program fees.
-Individuals are able to get assistance for the first month’s program entry fee–if needing assistance, we have some resources available to help.-Payment of $250 fee is due on the 1st and the 15th of each month.
-Money is never to be borrowed from anyone for program fees, or any reason.
-If fee is not paid or is late, residents may be placed on the refocus phase until paid.
8. Bedrooms
-Bedrooms are shared with twin sized beds/bedding.
-Laundry hamper, storage tote, pillow, hangers, nightstand are all available for use.
-No one is ever allowed into any others’ bedrooms EVER. If anyone is in anyone else's bedroom–please tell manager.
-Each individual is allowed to bring the equivalent of 2 large suitcases. Anything more must be approved.
-Individuals are responsible for keeping their personal areas neat and clean, including nightstands, dressers, closets, under their bed, etc.
-All rooms are subject to random inspection for cleanliness and contraband by management.
-Photos, posters etc. are only allowed to be taped on the walls. No tacks/nail holes allowed.
-No additional furniture or tv’s to be brought in without permission of house manager.
-No individual shall change assigned bed or rearrange furniture without permission from the manager.
9. No stealing, fighting, or threats of physical violence whatsoever.
-Derogatory slurs of any kind will not be tolerated.
-Physical violence is an immediate discharge.
-No threats of violence/name calling/intimidation/etc.
10. No participation or involvement in any illegal activities.
-This includes being in the presence of illegal activities.
-Any and all incidents or interactions with police must be brought to the attention of management immediately.
-No unhealthy communication regarding drugs, alcohol, or stories of “using days” that glorify addiction or criminal behavior. Only positive talk, past is the past and everyone is on their road of recovery.
11. All individuals are required to work, attend school, or volunteer a minimum of 32 hours of work a week.
-Employment is preferred to be secured before move-in, but understand that's not always possible. Individual will be on move-in phase and is expected to start working within 14 days of moving in. Start putting in applications ASAP.
-Individuals must supply the house manager with a work schedule, as well as the name of supervisor.
-Curfew may be adjusted for work, but must be approved by the house manager.
-Upon entering, if employment isn’t secured, individual must apply for a minimum of 5 jobs per day until hired & have official started first shift.
-HireQuest or People Ready may be a good option until securing employment.
-If planning to change employment, notice MUST be given and no time lapse in between employment without approval.
12. Quiet time is at 10:30 p.m. all 7 days a week.
Individuals may read or watch television after quiet time, provided that other participants are not disturbed.
No use of washer and/or dryer after quiet time.
No cooking or coffee after 10:30 pm, however the microwave may be used.
13. Chores and Cleanliness
-Chore chart must be checked off every day.
-Individuals are required to have beds made bedroom tidy before leaving the premises for the day or by 9:30 am at the latest.
-Individuals may not sleep on the couch or floor.
-No eating full meals is permitted in any area other than the kitchen and living room. Snacks are fine.
-Food is not to be left on the counter. All food must be stored in the refrigerator or cupboard.
-All dishes must be washed immediately after use!
-No shoes in the house!
14. Laundry
-If any laundry is left in the machines for longer than 15 minutes, any individual can remove it and put it into the individual’s hamper or on the table.
-Please, do not complain about someone taking laundry out of washer/dryer if it was left. Please stay on top of it to avoid this.
-Do not put others’ clothes into the dryer unless asked–put into small grey basket in laundry room.
-Only use the 209 laundry detergent if approved by house manager–this is only to be used for women who have not started employment or for household bedding/rugs/etc.
15. Medical
-The 209 House is not liable for any individual's health at any time. This is not a hospital, nor a treatment facility.
-The 209 House does not hold any individual’s medication. Everyone is responsible for their own medications at all times.
-Make sure to lock up any medications in lockboxes provided by the house manager.
-In case of emergency, call 911. Other participants, owner, and house manager will be as helpful as possible but will NOT be responsible for an individual's condition or emergency/medical treatment.
-In case of a suspected overdose, if able, administer Narcan and call 911. Multiple kits are in the main floor hallway linen closet & lower level kits are in the medicine cabinet by the bathroom sink. Thankfully, haven't had to ever use at 209, but we want to be prepared in case of this tragic event.
16. Belongings
-Any items left at The 209 House after 48 hours after a participant leaves will be considered a donation.
-At no time is The 209 House responsible for an individual’s belongings.
-Subject to be searched at any time by management.
17. Transportation
-The 209 House does not provide transportation and individuals are responsible for their own transportation.
-Management will try their best to help with rides for the first few weeks of arrival, if needed, until getting settled.
-Bus stop is about a block away from house.
-If asking other 209 housemates for rides, please be courteous on offering gas money–$3-5 per ride is acceptable! But please, don’t overask!
-No personal vehicles are to be driven without providing The 209 House with proof of a valid license, current registration and proof of insurance on the vehicle to be driven.
-Individuals are not allowed to lend their vehicle to any other housemate, ever.
-No loitering in cars outside for longer than 15 minutes. No loud music while pulling up or parked outside the house.
-No street parking on Wednesdays.
-If getting a ride from someone who’s not another participant, you are to be picked up at a different location to protect other participants' identities.
For example, meet at the corner down the street. DO not meet at the nearby establishment, unless eating there.
- BIKES:
-Few regular bikes are available for use in the small shed at your own risk.
-Electric bike is available for use at your own risk. Goes up to 21 MPH! Easy to get around town for work, appointments, or a nice ride for enjoyment! Must sign liability waiver before riding.
-Make sure to ALWAYS lock it up with provided bike lock.
-Bike must be brought inside after each use and put into living room.
-Don’t charge for over 4 hours–set a timer on phone or Alexa device.
18. Confidentiality
-No individual should disclose any information about another housemate or former housemate to anyone outside the community (except parole/probation/law enforcement).
19. Smoking/Vaping
-Smoking and vaping are only permitted OUTSIDE.
-DO NOT throw your cigarette butts on the ground or in garbage. Use the designated sand bucket on steps.
-Smokers are responsible for dumping it when needed.
20. Misc.
-All paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc are provided.
-Hygiene products and some donated items are available upon request. We help with first month's of basic hygiene products, laundry detergent, etc. We got you if ya need!
-No space heaters, humidifiers, personal refrigerators, candles, incense, etc. are permitted. Sage burning is OK with management approval.
-Do not touch the thermostat at any time without management's permission.
How much are The 209 House program fees?
$500/month per participant
If accepted into the house, the 1st $250 payment due on 1st of the month & 2nd $250 payment due on 15th of the month. Cash, check, or TurboTenant payments accepted. (TurboTenant takes directly from your bank account.)
-Initial $500 program entry fee may be self-paid, from a family/friend, assistance program, church, etc.
-If you do not have the $250, please still apply.
-After the initial program fee is paid, participants MUST pay their own way to encourage them to be self-sufficient.
Phases of The 209 House
Staff will try their best to be FAIR, FIRM, & CONSISTENT to all women of the house! If you have questions or concerns, please communicate!!
No individuals may spend time or communicate with anyone in active addiction/alcoholism. No exceptions.
Management reserves the right to lengthen or place a participant back onto probation, phase 1, or phase 2 at any time if deemed necessary.
EVERYONE IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO HOLD OTHERS ACCOUNTABLE!! THIS ISN’T “SNITCHING”, this is looking out for one another & not putting their own/others sobriety at RISK! ANY threats in result of a participant telling the house manager about another’s violations, will NOT be tolerated.
Move-In Phase: Minimum of 14 days
Phase One: Minimum of 30 days
Phase Two: Minimum of 3 months
Phase Three: Until Move Out Date
Move-In Phase: (starts on move-in day for minimum of 14 days)
Allowing you to give yourself time to ease into everything, get settled in, build relationships with the other women of the house, build trust, & continue with a healthy structured lifestyle.
-Must follow all The 209 House house guidelines
-Must attend a minimum of 3 AA/NA meetings or similar program with approval.
-Get staff approval BEFORE you leave the house: please include where and who you will be with.
-Must download and keep location on Life360 to build trust.
-Can only leave the property for 2 hours a day for productive activities only.
-Does not include working hours if already employed.
Ex: gym, job hunting, appointments, groceries, etc.
-Two hours is in additional to NA/AA meetings & church.
-You may leave the house with approved 209 ladies that are in Phase 1 or higher for extra activities.
-Curfew is 8:00 pm until 6:00 am.
-Extra chores may be given by the house manager.
-May be required to go volunteer to stay busy/help in community until working.
-Must officially start your first full shift of employment & be paid up on monthly fees before potentially moving up to the next phase.
-Management MUST approved BEFORE increasing phases!
Phase One: (minimum of 30 days starting after the Move-In Phase)
-Must follow all The 209 House house guidelines.
-Must meet & be approved with house staff before officially entering Phase One.
-Must attend a minimum of 3 AA/NA meetings or similar program with approval.
-Curfew is 9pm to 6am.
-Two overnight passes after 14 days in Phase One with approval. Must let staff know location and who you will be with.
-Management MUST approve BEFORE increasing phases!
Phase Two: (Minimum of 3 months after Phase One)
-Must follow all The 209 House participant guidelines.
-Must meet & be approved with house staff before officially entering Phase Two.
-Must attend a minimum of 3 AA/NA meetings or similar program with approval.
-10:00 curfew
-Up to 4 overnight or out of town passes per month - need to know location and who you will be with.
-Management MUST be approved BEFORE increasing phases!
Phase Three: (Until move-out date)
-Must follow all The 209 House participant guidelines
-Must meet & be approved with house staff before officially entering Phase Three.
-Must attend a minimum of 3 AA/NA meetings or similar program with approval.
-10:30 pm curfew
-Up to 5 overnight or out of town passes per month - need to know location and who you will be with.
REFOCUS PHASE (special circumstances ONLY):
This phase may be used if monthly fee’s are past due, in between employment official start day, after certain violations of the house guidelines, or if the house manager deems necessary.
-Must follow all The 209 House house guidelines.
-Must attend a minimum of 3 AA/NA meetings or similar program with approval.
-Get staff approval BEFORE you leave the house: please include where and who you will be with.
-Can only leave the property for 2 hours a day for productive activities only.
Ex: gym, job hunting, appointments, groceries, etc.
-Two hours is additional to NA/AA meetings & church.
-Curfew is 8:00 pm until 6:00 am.
-Extra chores may be given by house manager.
-All monthly fees should be up to date before possible changing phases.
-Must meet and be approved by staff before being released off of Probation Phase. You may return or level down depending on staff’s decision.
BE very aware of your behavior while on refocus!!! EVERYTHING COUNTS.
OUR GOAL IS FOR YOU TO SUCCEED AND WILL TAKE THAT APPROACH WITH ACCOUNTABILITY. IT’S UP TO YOU TO EARN AN INCREASE YOUR PHASE NUMBER!
The 209 House may implement other rules or regulations on an individual or the community as it deems necessary. These rules are laid out as clearly as possible to avoid confusion. If unsure, ask the house manager. Do not wait until after you have done it. Honest and open communication is KEY.
-I understand that this application needs to be completely accurate and honest.
-I understand that if the application is not accurate, I may be asked to leave The 209 House immediately and without refund.
-The above listed rules were explained to me, and I understand them.
-I agree to follow these rules during my stay at The 209 House.
-I understand that I am a guest/participant at The 209 House & I hold NO TENANT RIGHTS WHATSOEVER.
-I understand that if I refuse to leave the property at the house manager/owners request, that I may face criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law.
-I promise and agree to peacefully leave the premises at any time that I drink any alcoholic beverages, use any mind-altering chemicals, violate any of the above-mentioned rules or whenever requested to do so by management.
-I understand that I must be able and capable to care for myself, comply with daily house requirements, and find employment without the need for supervision.
-I agree to submit to a urine and breath test at any time and that refusal will result in my immediate discharge and agree to leave The 209 House if a positive result comes up.
-I agree to waive and relinquish any and all claims and demands for damages which may or might arise in any way and from any cause, whether from personal treatment or any patent/latent defect in the premises or other direct or implied negligence, regardless of the nature and the occasion thereof.
-I agree to release all liability towards The 209 House house management and owners of the property.
-I understand that The 209 House is not a treatment facility and that they are not responsible for my well-being or medical issues whatsoever.
-I am not under the influence of any non-prescribed mind- or mood-altering substances at this time and I understand what I am signing.
-I understand that The 209 House is not responsible for me if I relapse and transportation from the house is my responsibility. I understand that The 209 House will not make arrangements for me.
