The Policies
Zero-Tolerance: Purple Mountain Recovery Inc. has a strict policy regarding the use of illegal drugs, THC, and/or alcohol (any alcohol-based products that can cause a false positive on UA or BA tests). Any use of these substances and/or contraband/paraphernalia found on the premises will result in immediate discharge. If you come into the program with substances still in your system, levels must go down, or you will be discharged. Though Red Cards and THC is legal in Colorado, it is not Legal federally, we are a federally funded program so no THC will be allowed to any member. We understand moderation is a valid pathway to recovery, but while living in sober living, this is not an option with any substance. Members with knowledge of other Members using and failing to inform staff will be subject to the same/similar action. Purple Mountain Recovery only utilizes Lab Testing; there are no false positives in lab testing. This is why it is crucial that any over-the-counter medications you may take are given to the person completing labs. Failure to do this and showing positive will result in discharge from the program.
Members are required to carry the IBAC breathalyzer with them at all times, when alerted to a test you will have 15 minutes to log into the app and complete this BA. These are random and can happen anytime throughout the day. They are the size of a key fob and can be used anywhere. Those on overnights will be required to complete two additional random bas while on overnight.
Members must download One Step and set the location to always on. This is to allow check-in at meetings and groups. It is also where all house chats, important updates, and resources will be for you to access. It also protects you if someone states you were not home during required hours and you were. Failure to do this will result in discharge from the program.
Weekly random testing: You must call the UA line daily at 8 am to see if you test that day. Testing hours are 11 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm Monday to Thursday and 3 pm to 6 pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Testing will take place at our office at 3225 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Suite 100, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. We are approved for med rides and on a major bus line. All tests are required, and exceptions will not be made to change your test day. It is your responsibility to make the time that day to be there.
Members are subject to additional mandatory random urinalysis and breathalyzer screenings if suspicion of use is there. Testing will be done at the Executive Director’s/or Sober Living Director’s discretion as often as necessary. The member will be given 30 minutes from being asked to produce urinalysis. Upon being asked for a breathalyzer, the member must submit it immediately. Should the member fail to meet these guidelines or refuse any test, immediate action will be taken, including membership cancellation and immediate discharge.
While this program supports both LGBGQIA2+- Homes and homes that have no focus on sexual orientation, we do not discriminate against anyone. If you are not LGBTQIA2+, you understand that there is ZERO tolerance for harassment, disrespect, negative talk, inappropriate use of slang words, or any other misconduct. You know people may use pronouns different from what they present, and you agree to follow the pronouns and preferred names. As we understand, sometimes it takes a while to get used to lenience will be provided on pronoun use with education. If after that, maliciously used pronouns will not be tolerated. Any of the above is grounds for IMMEDIATE termination_
As a sober living, you may be UA tested by a member of the opposite identity of yours. Refusal to be tested based on someone's gender identity or sexual orientation is immediate grounds for termination.
Physical or verbal abuse, acts, threats of violence, and hostile behaviors WILL NOT be tolerated. Immediate action will be taken, including behavioral contracts or membership cancellation and immediate discharge.
Members are NOT permitted to remain on the property if they are found to be under the influence or test positive for any prohibited substance. In case of a return to use, the situation will be managed case-by-case. Members will be offered a ride to detox or hospital by staff. Staff will not take Members to an unknown/unsafe location. If a member refuses detox/hospital, the member will be allowed 30 minutes (with staff/sober living director supervision) to find a ride away from the property. If a ride is not obtained, further action may be taken, including contacting local law enforcement. If a member tries to operate a vehicle now, local law enforcement will be contacted immediately.
Peers are not allowed to give any participants rides; this is for your and their protection. Peers will help you navigate bus routes, show you how to set up med rides etc.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Medications:
PMR does allow MAT. Your regiment must be doctor-prescribed. Be aware that PMR does lab tests and monitors your medication levels you are required to adhere to any medication guidelines provided by your provider. Medications must always remain in your safe in the designated area. Storage of medications anywhere else on the property is grounds for termination from the program. Purple Mountain Recovery Inc. does NOT assume any responsibility for lost or stolen medications. Should there be a medication discrepancy, Purple Mountain Recovery Inc. will investigate the matter as seen fit and WILL NOT reimburse a member for any associated costs. Purple Mountain Recovery Inc.’s QMAP will conduct weekly medication counts. If you are home, you may be present during these med counts. Should any discrepancy (over or under) occur in the counts, the member will be subject to immediate action, including the cancellation of the membership and immediate discharge.
House Meetings/Case Management: Members are required to attend MANDATORY house business meetings. The day and time of the House meeting will be at the Sober Living Director’s discretion. Should a member need to miss these meetings, notification must be given to staff at least 48 hours (about 2 days) prior and approved by the Executive Director. Members are required to attend a case management weekly.
Weekly House Peer Support Groups: Purple Mountain Recovery provides multiple in-house groups. The only required one is Life Skills. All others are voluntary, and all these groups will count towards your required meetings. Personal Property/Money: Purple Mountain Recovery Inc. does NOT assume any responsibility and will not reimburse any costs associated with lost, stolen, or damaged private property. It is the member’s responsibility to maintain and protect all personal items.
Searches of Personal Property: Purple Mountain Recovery Inc. staff reserves the right to conduct searches of Members' property at any time, with or without notice. We will make every effort to do this with your presence. If they are done while you are not present, two staff members will conduct the search and record it. (this includes vehicles). *Note* Any private property left behind once the member is no longer in the Purple Mountain Recovery Inc. program will be donated and/or discarded after a period of 7 days. Member has 72 hours (about 3 days) to contact the sober living director to arrange a time when the sober living director can be present for the participant to pick up if this is not done we will assume you abandoned your property and items will be dontated. Purple Mountain Recovery is not responsible for replacing items you left abandoned. NO ITEMS WILL BE RELEASED TO ANYONE EXCEPT PARTICIPANT.
Personal Vehicles: Members can only have one vehicle on the PMR property. Any vehicle must be licensed, registered, and insured proof is required. Members must also have a valid Driver's License to have a vehicle on the property. Members are not allowed to park in the garage or driveway. If, for any reason, the Vehicle becomes inoperable, it must be removed from the property within 24 hours. If not removed, it will be towed at the owner's expense. There will be no working on cars on PMR property or in the neighborhood where the house is located.
Employment/Volunteering: The member must obtain and keep active employment, volunteer, attend school, or do any combination thereof within two weeks of admittance. These must have at least 20 hours per week. If not working or volunteering Full-time, members must collaborate with the peer specialist to obtain the skills and resources needed to achieve this goal. The member must remember obligations to attend house meetings, case management, and recovery meetings and balance their work schedule with program obligations. Members must provide proof of hours worked for the first four weeks. Added requirements may be required on a case-by-case basis. If a member is on total disability they MUST volunteer 20 hours a week, there are no exceptions.
Recovery Participation Defined: Purple Mountain Recovery believes in the multiple pathways of recovery and that you are in recovery when you say you are. We want you to pursue any of the recovery programs that suit you. Members must be working on their recovery. This is achieved by doing recovery-related activities each week for your stay. You can achieve this in many ways: 12-step meetings, Smart Recovery, Celebrate Recovery, Recovery Darma, going to the Phoenix gym, Professional therapy, and Peer Coaching; the weekly peer support group at the PMR counts as one activity each, PMR house or company pro social events. PMR understands that there are many paths to recovery. We expect your active participation in your recovery. If you are not working on a program, your membership will be canceled and removed from the PMR program.
Peer Recovery Coaching & Case Management: Purple Mountain Recovery Inc provides full-time coaches and case management to help our members in their recovery journey. Upon admission to PMR, members will be assigned a case manager from PMR and a peer coach with PMR, if they do not have a peer coach at another agency. Members are free to choose any peer specialist at any agency they choose, but they will be assigned one from PMR until this is achieved. If seeing an outside peer coach, an ROI must be signed for Purple Mountain Recovery to get progress and attendance notes. Members will meet with case management weekly to help aid with any needs or resources members will need. Members must meet with their peer coach at least once weekly (depending on phase) to work on recovery. We believe a big part of one's success is for Members to have as much support and resources as possible. INITIAL________

If more than one overnight is to be used back-to-back, a minimum of 48 hours' notice must be given.
